The City of DeFuniak Springs (pop. 5429) is now accepting applications for a Finance Director. The city employs approximately 100 people and operates with a $26-million annual budget. The city form of government is council-manager.
The minimum qualifications for the position are: A B.S. degree, or higher in accounting, public finance or business administration from a four-year college or university, or five (5) years’ experience in accounting, public finance or business administration or related work may substitute for a B.S. degree. Knowledge in the area of budget preparation, financial investments, State of Florida Uniform Accounting Codes and any other areas concerning governmental accounting is essential. Must have knowledge of computer systems along with the ability to capture and record financial transactions.
The Finance Director shall be responsible for the overall management of the City’s finances; following policies set by a five-member City Council and elected Mayor. This position requires a daily work load beyond managing the city’s utility billing and financial functions. Requires a valid Florida driver license. The annual salary and benefit package for this position will be set by the City Council.
