What’s your forte?
My forte includes education and training of staff. I truly enjoy making connections between individuals and organizational resources to help achieve one’s goals. People-centered public administrator who loves to roll up my sleeves and work alongside my colleagues and subordinates. Specific focus in public works, emergency management, environmental regulations/permitting, and website management (public information/education).
Public speaking, getting to know my residents and professional development are my focuses in public administration. Nothing makes me happier than to see my projects and efforts affect my residents in a positive way.
In addition to education and training, I truly enjoy the processes and concepts related to strategic planning. Creating that shared vision between the residents, elected officials, staff and stakeholders and implementing the plan is central to everything we do as public administrators. I have worked with several municipalities and several non-profits to create and implement a strategic planning and management program.
Lastly, I have a very active interest in public administration, public works administration, emergency management, environmental management, technology, e-government and public education/information.
Do you have any prior or current consulting experience?
Currently engaged with the Public Works Academy, Inc. (a 501c3 not-for-profit) which provides training/certification programs for employees of public works/utility departments statewide.
I also have been active providing training and educational consulting services for a number of municipal governments throughout the State of Florida. Classes include but are not limited to FDOT Maintenance of Traffic, FDEP FSESCI, University of Florida Green Industries BMP, Pinellas County Landscape BMP, CPR/AED/First Aid, Emergency Management/Planning, Management/Supervision and Business Writing.
What have you been doing since becoming and MIT?
Since becoming an MIT, I have been working to build, Tampa Bay Training, LLC, a training and professional development business catering to the needs of local governments, utilities and construction/development companies.
I have also been active in:
- assisting a not-for-profit organization operate as it goes through a significant transition in its management and organizational structure.
- building the website for two not-for-profit organizations’ organizations and developing their social media/e-commerce channels.
- working with my professional associations (FCCMA, APWA and FWPCOA) and related committee assignments.
- furthering my own knowledge in the areas of technology, e-commerce/e-government, environmental management and emergency management.
What are your preferences for MIT work?
Preferences for MIT work include training/certification of employees, review of website/tying to program/permit requirements, strategic planning and public speaking engagements.
I am open to interim, project-based or longer-term engagements.
I am also available for training opportunities and speaking engagements and topics of management, supervision, safety and hurricane preparation.
I reside in Hillsborough County but am able to travel anywhere in the State of Florida or am able to telecommute.
I am flexible in my preferred work environments. I enjoy working both alone and as a member of a team. I enjoy working from home, working in an office environment, and/or working in a remote location.
Truth be told, I am also available to volunteer or assist in a number of ways.
What is your hourly rate?
Hourly rates range from $85.00/hour to $150.00/hour depending on tasks and location.
Training/Certification work is general charged at a per registered employee rate.
