“Practical Approaches to Implementing Sustainability Initiatives”

Satellite Beach City Hall, 565 Cassia Boulevard, Satellite Beach

ICMA Practice Areas: 2, 7, 9 and 10

Sustainability initiatives, relative to building practices and land use planning, are necessary for all local governments. How to proceed and what policies work best varies among different agencies; albeit, there are best practices that transcend to all local governments in Florida. Lessons learned on such issues as flood hazard mitigation, coastal setbacks, code requirements for rebuilding after hurricanes, utilizing green building practices, and the roles of sustainability boards and committees (and the challenges therewith) will be discussed at this FCCMA regional training program. Special emphasis will be made to provide an informal and interactive session, enabling attendees to learn from each other and share their own experiences and recommendations. Managers and key staff members, particularly those involved in these initiatives, should plan to attend this informative session.

Presenters:

  • Courtney Barker, City Manager, Satellite Beach
  • Nicholas Sanzone, Environmental Programs Coordinator, Satellite Beach

The cost for the training is $49 per person and $15 for students. Lunch is included. The deadline for registration is Friday, November 30th. No refunds will be given after the deadline.

If paying by check, complete the registration form and mail to: FCCMA, P.O. Box 1757, Tallahassee, FL 32302.
