By Lynn Tipton, FCCMA Executive Director
Local Works Day is October 2nd, 2015.
For the third year, the Coalition will promote its “Local Works” campaign as a way to help Florida citizens understand, appreciate and support local government and the services and value these governments bring to millions of lives each day.
There is a meaningful way for everyone to contribute to Local Works Day. Associations and individual local governments are invited to celebrate to the extent they wish. Many associations celebrate their own awareness days, weeks or months – but Local Works Day unifies us to highlight the incredible scope of local government services in Florida.
Please, help the Florida Local Government Coalition celebrate:

The Coalition will also celebrate by:

- Broadcasting a Public Service Announcement (PSA) on Florida radio stations to reach millions of listeners
- Collaborating with Florida League of Cities to host an event in Tallahassee for students to learn about local government services
- Sharing content and updates that include the official hashtags #LocalWorks and #LocalWorksDay
- Asking select local government supporters to submit Opinion Editorials to newspapers
Last but NOT LEAST:
COMING SOON…A new Local Works Day Video. Please be on the lookout – the Coalition will send it directly to the member associations and ask them to share it with your networks on Friday, October 2!
I believe Local Works Day is an important recognition; I hope you will join me in this effort!
