There will be two onsite training session opportunities in March. The first training will be held March 4th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Palm Beach Gardens EEOC Training Facility. The second training will be held March 18th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Log Cabin in Biscayne Park.
The training on March 4th will focus on “Building the Next Generation of Local Government Professionals and Staff.” This FCCMA training session will provide a comprehensive and practical overview of one of FCCMA’s most important initiatives and will focus on three areas: Mentoring and developing key staff members – facilitated by Fort Lauderdale City Manager Lee Feldman who has an outstanding track record in this area; Successful Internship and Apprenticeship programs – facilitated by Boca Raton Assistant Human Resources Director Sharon Kelly who has created a very successful program entitled: “Nuts and Bolts of Successful Programs;” and Interfacing the workplace and the classroom – facilitated by Dr. Leslie Leip of the FAU Askew School of Public Administration.
Attorney John Herin, from Gray/Robinson, and Engineer Curt Keyser, from Calvin, Giordano and Associates, will jointly present an informative program on Florida’s Consultants Competitive Negotiation Act (CCNA) on March 18th. Over the last year, FCCMA has offered similar programs around the state but this is the first time it’s being offered in south Florida. Attendees of this program will benefit from the comprehensive approach taken to cover both the engineering and the legal aspects of this important mandate. Attendees will be encouraged to ask questions and engage the presenters in discussions on “real examples” along with the challenges and pitfalls that are part of complying with the CCNA process. Whether you are a City or County Manager or Purchasing Director, or both, or anyone else interested or involved in the process of selecting professional firms to provide services, you want to make time to register for this training and to spend some time with your colleagues over lunch.
