The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) bestowed the organization’s highest honor upon FCCMA member, Betty Baker, during its national convention held April 13-17 2016 in Portland Oregon. The NFBPA is an organization of more than 2,600 members representing 350-plus local, state and federal jurisdictions. Its mission is to strengthen the position of African Americans within the field of public administration, increase the number of African Americans appointed to executive positions in public service organizations and to prepare younger, aspiring administrators for senior-level public management posts.
The NFBPA’s Marks of Excellence Award is the organization’s highest honor. It is presented to an African American public administrator who has achieved extraordinary success in the field of public management while demonstrating an unparalled commitment to the community.
For purposes of the Marks of Excellence Award, the term “public administrator” is defined broadly as a non-elected administrator at any level of public service in local, state or federal governments, non-profit institutions, community-based organizations, academic institutions or related professional groups, including educators.
She was presented with the award by the organizations’ National President Mr. Bruce Moore, City Manager of Little Rock AR. The award was presented at the Annual Marks of Excellence Banquet on Saturday evening, April 16, 2016.
Congratulations Betty!
