Call for Proposals
The Center for Public and Nonprofit Management (CPNM) at the University of Central Florida’s School of conference will be held March 1, 2019 at the FAIRWINDS Alumni Center on the UCF campus in Orlando,
Florida. The theme, “Evidence-Based Policymaking: Using Big Data to Evaluate Public Sector Innovation and Improve Organizational Performance,” focuses on important public administration issues.
With increasing availability of data and growing public attention on government performance, the potential for evidence-based policymaking is great. While policymakers with differing ideological viewpoints disagree on the size and scope of government service provision, we all agree that government should perform well in delivering the services it does provide. Evidence-based policymaking is an important approach for achieving the goals for policies and programs set forth by our democratic processes. By using what we already know from program evaluation to better inform future policy decisions, evidence-based policymaking provides an opportunity for government to not only improve performance but also develop innovative policies and practices for implementation. By focusing on data, analytics, and research findings above ideology, evidence-based policymaking might ultimately promote bipartisan collaboration in important policy areas.
Proposals may be research papers, case studies, best practices, etc. that address this conference theme in a wide range of public management and policy domains, including, but not limited to: human and social
services, nonprofit management, budgeting and financial management, emergency management, and planning and economic development.
The deadline for submission is November 20, 2018. Please submit your proposal(s) by sending an abstract (not to exceed 500 words), title, and author(s) contact information to cpnm@ucf.edu. If you have logistical
