The 2018 conference will be held Wednesday, October 24, to Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Sanibel Marriott in Fort Myers. Please visit www.redevelopment.net for registrations, program and sponsorship opportunities. A tour of downtown Fort Myers’ Historic District and CRA will be held on Wednesday morning, and the opening plenary session features Gypsy Gillardo, CEO of Power Broker Magazine and head of the St. Petersburg 2020 Project to End Generational Poverty. The next day, Neda Navab with Urban Sidewalk Labs will be the keynote presenter on how redevelopment is connected to the world of digital community renewal. On Friday, we wrap up the conference with a presentation by Joe Parilla, Brookings Institute, about a recent study and report that shows economic development does turn around blighted areas.
There are twenty sessions, all qualified for AICP, IEDC and Florida Bar credits. The presenters have all been chosen to offer in depth information on best practices for each topic, and examples of case studies that demonstrate how the topic operates in the real world. Our tradeshow is still open for booths; we will host roundtable discussions and networking events, as well as the Awards Ceremony Thursday evening. A full complement of national and state experts on redevelopment, design, economic development, redevelopment law and housing will be in attendance, as well as over 350 redevelopment professionals, elected officials, non-profits, consultants and vendors.
