I write to you this month with the realization my term as FCCMA President is coming to an end soon. It’s been a great experience for me in any number of ways and you’ve made it well worth the time required to serve. In March I had the pleasure of serving as the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee to choose next years Board of Directors to be put forward for your consideration at our annual conference. The nominating committee had a full day of interviews and had some very difficult choices to make. All the applicants were more than qualified and unlike past years where there were only one or two applicants this year’s applicant pool was packed with great people and a lot of talent. For me it’s gratifying that so many of our dedicated professionals wish to serve.
A big thank you goes to the Nominating Committee for trekking to Orlando and giving a day to make these very difficult choices. Those dedicated professionals are: President-Elect Shannon Lewis; Secretary-Treasurer Micah Maxwell; District I Representative Raoul Lavin; District II Representative Dale Arrington; District III Representative Beth Anne Knight; District IV Representative Jeff Green; District V Representative Yocie Galiano; District VI Alternate Kelly Shoemaker; District VII Representative Amy Davis; and District VIII Representative Jeff Brown. It was an opportunity to hear from different voices with different perspectives and shape the future leadership of FCCMA. It’s a perfect representation of why involving members thru committees is so vital to our success!
Two Shout Outs! One to Past President and Auburndale City Manager Bobby Green for starting the Next Generation Movement in FCCMA. Bobby the movement is alive, well and flourishing! We owe you for doing something so important! Second goes to Past President Jim Hanson for beginning a tough conversation with ICMA about better representation of FCCMA on the ICMA Board. This discussion is continuing and we are working to get a better deal for FCCMA members! See you in Orlando soon!
