After a year of planning, hard work and much anticipation, our Annual Conference kicks off on Wednesday June 1st at the Renaissance Orlando SeaWorld Hotel. We’re looking forward to the many keynotes, sessions and activities geared towards our members. Receptions and social activities are scheduled each evening to allow us to personally connect with other. Thanks to the Conference Planning Committee for the hard work they have done over the past year in coordinating all these activities!!
If you are planning to attend the speed networking event for first-timers or the Friday Night Social at SeaWorld, please be sure you are registered. The cost for both of these events are included with your registration, but pre-registration is required so we know how many will be in attendance. Other activities (like the resume review, financial planning and inspiration breakfast) also require prior registration. If you are unsure about your registration status for these events, please contact mhowe@flcities.com.
During the year our Association has seen many accomplishments. I would like to thank the Board for their focus and direction on many critical issues. Many of the achievements were both birthed and implemented through committees, so I want to thank the Committees (Awards & Scholarship Committee, Communications Committee, Conference Planning Committee, Fiscal & Administrative Policy Committee, Investment Committee, Membership Committee, Professional Development Committee, Winter Institute Planning Committee, Nominating Committee) and their Chairs for their hard work. Other members responded to specific issues by their participation in ad-hoc committees and special initiatives and I wanted to also recognize their contribution.
While the various committees provided the framework for our several programs, the actual daily execution was overseen by our staff. To Casey, Carol, Linda and Nykierama, let me express my sincerest appreciation for your daily dedication to public service and to moving the Association forward.
I wish the greatest success to Lori and the incoming Board as they start their terms and have great anticipation for what they will accomplish. I would encourage members to continue their support for the Association through participation on committees, engagement in programs and support for the incoming board.
It has been a real honor to have served as your President over the last year. I wholeheartedly thank you for the support you have provided to me and the Association, in moving the various initiatives forward. I additionally thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve you in this capacity. For that, I am extremely humbled.
With extreme gratitude!!
