
It was great to see so many of you at our Winter Institute, and on behalf of all the participants, I thank the Planning Committee for their hard work. For those unable to attend due to other commitments, the event took place on January 30-31, 2025, at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach, focusing on the theme “What Keeps Managers Up at Night in 2025.” Topics included infrastructure, civility, asset management, and managing extreme weather events. The feedback was very positive, and I appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in making this event successful.

Onsite Training – An onsite training will be held on April 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Florida Gulf Coast University. City and County Managers in Southwest Florida will discuss emotional intelligence, which involves awareness of one’s emotions and the ability to manage/harness those emotions to solve problems and help others do the same. The local government profession can be very stressful, and understanding how to manage your emotions is a requisite for success.
Annual Conference – Save the date! The FCCMA 2025 Annual Conference is set for May 28-31, 2025, at the Rosen Shingle Creek, 9939 Universal Boulevard, Orlando. Registration will open in mid-March 2025.
FCCMA Photo Contest – The City of Wauchula is the winner of the FCCMA Photo Contest. Congratulations to the City of Wauchula, and thank you to all who participated. The runners-up are the City of Zephyrhills, Alachua County, and the City of St. Cloud. The photos submitted by the contestants showcase the beauty and diversity of our state and our profession.
