Remember the days as a young student when you were looking for a mentor to show you how local government “REALLY” works. Here is your chance to give back!
The premier leadership fraternity at the University of Florida, Florida Blue Key and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service are organizing and sponsoring the Local Government Internship Program (LGIP) at the University of Florida for the Class of 2016. The LGIP will kick off the third year of LGIP in anticipation of placing local government interns in a wide array of disciplines starting in May 2016. The LGIP placed 10 interns state wide in 2015 from the Keys to Gainesville.
Managers, if you have positions in your office or other departments such as budget and finance, planning, engineering, recreation public works, etc., please contact Craig Hunter at (727) 698-4341 or chunt@tampabay.rr.com or Randy Reid at (941) 445-3567 or rhreid@gmail.com. Please send us contact information for your HR Director and the particular department that the intern would serve in. This year’s goal is to place 15-20 interns across the state and 5-10 interns in the Gainesville area.
We know you are busy so delegate this to your administrative staff and have them contact us. With budget constraints, it may not work this fiscal year, but let us put you on the list to be part of the LGIP in the future.
Thanks for your consideration and we look forward to working with you on improving local government by mentoring young professionals.
