by Lynn Lovallo, Executive Assistant
To steal a phrase from Bob Hope, words cannot express my thanks to the members and staff of FCCMA, the Florida League of Cities, the Florida Association of Counties, and all of the FCCMA affiliates.
These past 19+ years have flown by. Never would I have imagined that I would want to stay at one job with one boss for all these years. But during that time, there was never an inkling to leave. My friends and colleagues at the League have been a joy to work with, and I will be forever grateful.
I have had the opportunity to watch many eager young people graduate college, enter the field of public administration, grow into full-fledged city or county managers, get married and have families or just be comfortable with themselves as adults. To me, that is the experience that stands out the most. Each and every one of them has always shown me the utmost respect—often making me feel like the FCCMA Mom! As such, I am “Mom” proud of all of them and what they have become.
I have worked with some of the most respected men and women in the profession over the years, and I have grasped every opportunity to learn from those who know so much. I have laughed, celebrated, worried, grieved and cried with members —the members of FCCMA were like an extended family to me. Your hurts were my hurts; your celebrations were my joys.
As I enter the next chapter of my life, I will take with me all the wonderful memories and blessings you all have provided. I wish all my friends at FCCMA and its affiliates continued success and happiness. A friend of mine who had recently lost her husband once wrote in a Christmas card, “Make Memories.” I try to remember to take the time to do that and appreciate what each day has to offer. I wish the same for you.
Thank you, and God Bless You.
