By Lynn Tipton, FCCMA Executive Director
Another 12 months have speedily passed – WOW. Your association joins you in wondering where the days went! As we look at the year’s accomplishments and look ahead to the goals for the new year, there are reasons for gratitude and for anticipation. Your officers and board of directors appreciate your membership, and involvement on committees and task forces, and in participating in regionally-based trainings. Your staff appreciates your feedback on surveys and and quick responses on forms: from all of us a collective THANK YOU!
Looking ahead into 2016, we are all excited for the Winter Institute in Lakeland in February, continuing the district-based trainings, and for the annual conference in June in Lake Buena Vista. For many of you, I know you’re making your plans for professional development and possibly your credentialing. I wanted to remind you of some resources through ICMA that are now available (so you can hold the dates on your calendar). Click here for the 2016 ICMA leadership and professional development dates.
I will put in my repeated plug for more credentialed professionals so that we can pass North Carolina and once more claim the #1 spot in the world! All of my college football teams missed the playoffs this year; I want to be Number One in something…can you help with making FCCMA number one in credentialed professional local government managers?! We are close (within four people) and have held the #1 spot before. Seriously, it is a very worthy goal, and I encourage you to consider it if you are not already credentialed. My personal best wishes to you for this holiday season, and all the best to you in 2016!
